Lough Neagh Development Trust, a voluntary body which was established by local people to bring about local community ownership of Lough Neagh, is to hold a series of community information evenings in May and June.  The information events will be held at Lough Neagh Discovery Centre at 7.30pm on 24 May, the Community Centre, Ballyronan at 7pm on 31 May, and in Clotworthy House, Antrim at 7pm on 14 June 2017.

The meetings will provide the local community with an update on the work of the Trust, and show what Lough Neagh being owned by the local community would mean for local people.  The meetings will include a platform for discussion and provide information as to how local people can get involved in the Trust and ‘have their say in the future of Lough Neagh’.  Trust Directors will be in attendance to answer questions.

Commenting ahead of the three Community Information Evenings, Nigel Kinnaird Chairman of the Lough Neagh Development Trust, said;

“Lough Neagh is important to us all, and it is wonderful that local people have a once in a generation opportunity to have a real voice shaping its future. I encourage everyone to come along and hear what’s happening, to get involved and to have their say at these events.”

Recently the Lough Neagh Development Trust started a ‘Friends of Lough Neagh’ campaign and, encouragingly, hundreds of local people have already registered as a Friend of Lough Neagh (FoLN). Anyone wishing to sign up as a ‘FoLN’ can do so by visiting www.loughneaghdevelopmenttrust.org or registering at the planned Community Information Evenings.
