Extern Homes purchases its tenth house ahead of Fundraising Ball.
The newly opened Titanic Hotel will provide the backdrop for the inaugural Extern Homes fundraising ball next month. A host of businesses and supporters of Extern, the leading social justice charity across Ireland will join on 9 November, at the new hotel to celebrate the achievement of Extern Homes in the 12 months since the project was announced.
The fundraising ball which is being hosted by Belfast finance company Platinum Finance, will bring together over 200 people to celebrate the works of Extern Homes and hear from Gerard, the first tenant of the project, about the impact the project and a new home has had on his life. Since its launch last December, Extern Homes has acquired ten homes across Belfast, and successfully housed tenants who were once homeless. The charity is transforming lives every single day through this ambitious scheme, and plans to acquire more properties to enable further tenancies to be created, helping some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
Commenting on his experience with Extern Homes, Gerard, said;
‘Since my move from a hostel to Extern Homes my life has changed for the better. I now have a home to call my own. I feel worry free and more independent. Extern Homes has worked and has been a really positive experience for me.’
Another new tenant, Sheila, who was previously homeless, added;
‘Extern treat their clients with dignity and respect. They have provided me with a variety of contacts and have a strong support infrastructure for me to avail of. They provided me with a home and additional support on a one to one basis.’
